Funding Priorities

With your help, we will focus on advancing four key areas of menstrual health, specifically

in Cambodia, Nepal, Kenya, the United States, as well as continue to support humanitarian

relief efforts:

● Advocacy: We support local leaders with the tools and resources necessary to

advance campaigns that promote menstrual equity, reduce shame and stigma, and

create policy environments that support people to manage menstruation with

dignity.

● Menstrual Products: We manufacture and sell washable, long-lasting menstrual

pads from local enterprises for low and middle resourced communities and schools.

● Health Education: We provide and train local health educators to deliver accurate,

timely, and age-appropriate curriculum for girls and boys.

● Livelihoods Training for Social Entrepreneurs: We train local social entrepreneurs

to start MH-focused businesses and become change agents within their own

communities.

Our shields are made of soft cotton

and a waterproof barrier for

maximum comfort and protection

against leaks. Shields have two

wings that snap securely around

underwear.

● Our liners are made of soft, super-

absorbent cotton flannel that can be

layered depending on flow and tuck

securely into shield pockets.

DfG Kits may also include:

● Care & use guide with visual instructions for how to care for DfG Pads and track

menstrual cycles.

● Carry Pouch made of moisture-resistant fabric to discreetly and safely stow used

liners while on the go.

● Underwear for those who may have few or no pairs.

● Soap & washcloths for personal hygiene and DfG product care.

● Drawstring bags that provide a fashionable tote for DfG products and other

everyday essentials.

those who menstruate, families and entire communities. The DfG Menstrual Health

curriculum has been developed and refined over the last 12 years and has been used in 145

countries.

It includes the following topics:

● Puberty and the female and male reproductive systems

● The menstrual cycle (including an in-depth look at each of the 4 phases, how to

track your own menstrual cycle and why this is helpful)

● Hygiene including handwashing, UTI prevention, and more

● How to hygienically and safely use and care for a DfG Kit

● Self-defense and human trafficking avoidance

● Sexually transmitted diseases

Each DfG Health Education Course is taught by a local certified Educator using a DfG

flipchart. The course takes approximately 1.5-2 hours to teach.

WHO WE PARTNERED WITH IN THE PAST

Equal Rights Advocates (ERA) fights for gender justice in workplaces and schools across the country. Since 1974, we’ve been fighting on the front lines of social justice to protect and advance rights and opportunities for women, girls, and people of all gender identities through groundbreaking legal cases and bold legislation that sets the stage for the rest of the nation.

Girls Garage is a nonprofit design and building program and dedicated workspace for girls* and gender-expansive youth ages 9-18. Founded in 2013, Girls Garage is the first-ever design and building workshop for female youth in the United States.Through after-school and summer pathways, Girls Garage provides free and low-cost programs in carpentry, welding, architecture, engineering, and activist art to a diverse community of 300 girls* and gender-expansive youth per year. Integrating technical skills, college/career guidance, and community leadership, our programs equip girls with tools to build the world they want to see. In our 3,600-square-foot workshop in Berkeley and under the guidance of our highly skilled all-female staff, we invite girls to bring their creative voice and put technical skills to work on real-world building projects that live in our community.
